Tonight I went super duper easy for dinner (for me).

I wasn’t hungry but had a craving i’d been dying to fulfill for a few days now. Let me introduce you to a beverage that’s a favorite with any dominican you’d know.  It’s called “Morir Soñando” (died dreaming) and it totally is! Food always has a connection with memories. I always remember my mother mixing this drink up for us on request. If we were dinning on mangu, there maybe a glass or two of morir soñando near by. This is one of those “treats” we would get as children.

What does it taste like you ask… like having an orange creme-sicle through a straw!! Just 4 ingredients, two bowls, and two spoons is all you need.

(after a few sips… i couldn’t resist)

  • 1 (12oz) pulp orange juice frozen concentrate
  • 1/3 cup of sugar
  • 1 (12oz) can of evaporated milk
  • 1 tbs vanilla
  • ice cubes
  • water
grab a bowl and add the orange juice concentrate (frozen), sugar, mix in about 15 ice cubes and 6 oz water.  stir to chill.
grab another bowl and add the evaporated milk, vanilla, and 15 ice cubes. stir to chill.
*both liquids must be very cold before you mix them or the acidity in the orange juice may cut the milk*
once everything is mixed and cold, combine both bowls together.  Pour the juice into the milk and vice versa until it’s mixed.
Find a glass quick, pour and enjoy :)
